Summary:

This course provides an introduction to Windows troubleshooting techniques. Command syntax and how its used in troubleshooting Windows issues is presented for the most commonly used commands such as ipconfig, ping, tracert, nslookup, netsta,ftp, and telnet. In addition, troubleshooting common problems from Windows clients is discussed.

Objectives:

After completing this course, students will be able to:
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues in the network using the commands ping, pathping, and tracert, and using the appropriate syntaxes with each of these commands
  • Use the ipconfig and winipcfg commands to add, remove, and troubleshoot Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) information on a hosts interface
  • Understand the nslookup command and its modes and syntaxes in order to troubleshoot and resolve DNS query problems
  • Understand the route command, its syntaxes, and its subcommands in order to use them to statically add, change, and remove known routes through the network on the local host
  • Use nbtstat and netstat command syntaxes in order to troubleshoot many problems in your network and on the local host
