Frequently
Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: Do I need to have the
software program I’m being trained on installed on my PC to take the
course?
A: No, the courses simulate the software program so you don’t need to
have the program installed on your PC. Naturally there is no
substitute for working with the real software.
Q: Do I need to purchase any other material or download anything
extra for the courses?
A: No, the courses are self-sufficient and no extra purchases are
needed. You will have to download an Authorware plug-in, but this is a
common program that allows you to perform the simulations, and chances
are it is already on your PC, especially if you or someone else in your
family plays computer games. The download doesn’t take long and the
course will walk you through how to download it if it’s not already
installed on you PC.
Q: Do I have to pay for new courses every time they are released?
A: No, new courses are automatically added to the libraries every 90
days. While there is no assurance the library you purchased will receive
new courses every time a new release comes out, the organization through
which you purchased the courses should notify you as new courses are
made available.
Q: How safe is it to enter my credit card over the Internet?
A: When you are on the Internet purchasing a course, to assure you that
your transaction is being conducted over a secure location, you will see
https:// in the URL.
Q: Are the courses you sell of high quality?
A: Each course developed has used a rigorous set of criteria. Our
criterion includes quality content, interactions, graphics, and
interspersed questions making learning fun and effective. Courses
carrying the Microsoft Certified Professional Approved Study Guide and
Microsoft User Specialist logos have been reviewed by and approved by
Microsoft to ensure the integrity of their content. In addition, these
courses have been developed by an e-Learning company that has been in
business for 20 years and sells these same courses to Fortune 1000
companies for their in-house employee training.
Q: How do I take a course?
A: Take a course with Netscape Navigator 4.X (or later) or Microsoft
Internet Explorer 4.X (or later) at the following location: http://www.bestwebtraining.com.
Please bookmark this location in your browser.
Q: What modem speed do I need for these courses?
A: The courses play well through a 28.8kb modem with response time
typically under two seconds. Of course, the response is faster if you
have a faster modem. As a Certified Microsoft Independent Courseware
Vendor, MindLeaders, the course developer, produces all courses in an
HTML format for fast, easy Internet delivery. Our courses are designed
for highly efficient, real-time presentation using HTML with an average
page size under 20k, the size of an e-mail.
Q: Can I take more than one course simultaneously?
A: Yes, as long as you bookmark each course, several courses can be open
at one time.
Q: Can I print the course content?
A: Yes, the text only version allows you to print the course content.
This is how it can be done:
Once in the course:
- Click on the Navigation button
- Click on ‘About this Course’
- Click on Accessibility
Q: What if I buy this subscription, but then my circumstances change
and I don’t have time to take them?
A: These courses are available 24/7/365 from any PC that has access to
the Internet. So you can take the courses from your office, your home,
or even from your local library. We all have time to do the things we
really want to do. Make sure you want to build a future before you get
started.
Q: What if the material is too difficult for me to understand?
A: Overall, our courses are aimed at the beginner to intermediate level
student. You can also get complete information on the courses by
checking the courseware catalog on the training Web site. The course
synopsis, the intended audience, objectives, topics, and prerequisites
are all listed there.
Q: Could I just buy one ID and share it around the office?
A: No, it is not in your best interest to share the ID. The most
important reason is that if you do share an ID, you will not benefit
from all the features within the course. There’s the bookmarking
feature that tracks you throughout the course. Any new user coming into
the course would have to pick up where you left off. In addition, the
scores are tracked throughout the course. That means a second user would
corrupt your score data. We have designed this product to be ID-specific
and if it’s not treated that way you will not be able to enjoy the
valuable features and benefits.
Q: Can I get college credit for these classes?
A: Right now, you can’t get ‘college credit’. However,
‘continuing education credit’ is offered by several academic
institutions for all the courses we offer. The only thing you have to do
is:
- Sign up for the online courses
- Complete the courses and score 70% or higher, and then print off the
certificate and scores page
- Fill out the course evaluation page
- Complete the online CEU application from the participating institution
of your choice
- Submit these documents, including the appropriate fee
You will then receive an official CEU certificate with a seal from the
university.
Q: Is the MindLeaders Certificate of Completion worth anything?
A: Yes, since 1996, MindLeaders has been pioneering the development of
training for presentation over the Internet. The training needs of over
700 large organizations have been addressed with our e-Learning
solutions, and are accessible to businesses, government agencies,
non-profit organizations, and home office users worldwide. Your
certificate of completion can be attached to your resume or added to
your personal achievement portfolio.
Q: Can I share my ID with my family members?
A: No, you should purchase separate subscriptions for each member of
your family. Each ID is associated with a single user, and this single
user’s name will print on the MindLeaders Certificate of Completion.
Additionally, ID sharing causes course placement errors, and
simultaneous login attempts with the same ID may result in subscription
cancellation. Invest in your family’s education by giving each member
his or her own subscription. The cost for access is priced to be
equitable enough to do so.
Q: How can I save my scores, tests, and certificates?
A: You can check your scores by logging into the system with your user
ID and password, going to any courses you have completed or are
currently accessing, and hitting the ‘Navigate’ button within the
course. The ‘Navigate’ button will allow you to click on the
‘Scores’ page. You can print out your scores from this page.
Additionally, if you have completed a course and all of its units at a
70% or better score, you will have the option to print a Course
Completion Certificate by clicking on the green button on the lower left
hand side of the ‘Scores’ page.
Q: I ordered the End-User Desktop Computing subscription and when I
was finished filling out the order form I got an error. I re-entered the
information and it went through that time. Will I be charged twice?
A: If you received an e-mail receipt for both transactions, then you
will be charged for both. If not, more than likely you were not charged
twice. If you were billed twice, call our support number and we will be
glad to arrange a credit for the overpayment.
Q: If I’m in the middle of taking a course and my ISP kicks me out,
will I lose all the data I had completed in that session?
A: Unfortunately, yes. If you experience Internet interruptions
regularly you should periodically exit the course by hitting the
‘Exit’ button so your course scores are saved. The beauty about the
‘Exit’ button is that it bookmarks where you left off so you can
quickly return to your original page.
Q: I want to sign up, but I don’t have a credit card. What do I do?
A: If your fear in using a credit card is that it won’t be protected,
you should be assured that all credit card transaction are done through
Cybercash. It’s a secure site, so you should have no concern about
security. |
